First time dining and was pleased with the atmosphere and setting. The nigiri was fresh and the tempura was excellent. Loved the selection of veggies. Both rolls were warm just fyi. So I had to finish the spicy tuna hand roll. Had two carafes of sake which was smooth and fruity. Will be back

Amazing food I have to say, way better than I expected or from the pictures I saw online. This place is in Redwood City Main Street, parking is a problem if you come at popular time. The shop front was super small I literally walked passed it multiple times. Sat at the sushi bar and ordered 7 items, mostly nigiri. 4 from the fish of the day section and 2 regular ones. Every one of them is tasty. Loved them all. Service was friendly as they took time to explain and recommend the menu items to me. I will definitely come back. Highly recommended.

Excellent service. Tasty food for the most part. Fish taco and tempura were great - crispy and tasty. The baby steam scallops and the fish roe sauce in Mentaiko spaghetti were amazing. Finished with delicious matcha and yuzu cheesecakes. Sashimi omakase had interesting fish and pairing sauces. Hokkaido Uni was yummy and good value. Seaweed was a bit soggy unfortunately but everything else was excellent. Updated 8-17-24: upgraded to 5 star for food. Excellent mentaiko spaghetti again and mushroom risotto was heavenly - flavorful and a hint of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, not overt powering the dashi soaked rice. Local albacore nigiri was fresh and soft texture. Agedashi tofu was hot and silky smooth with interesting and varied garnish on top. Ama ebi came with the fried shrimp heads- good temperature and crispy. Ended with tamagoyaki nigiri as the dessert. Fluffy and dashi infused texture with a hint of sweetness. Tasted even better with a splash soy sauce.

Got the fish tacos, great balls of fire roll, mentaiko spaghetti, omakase nigiri and the Hokkaido cheesecake. The tacos and spaghetti were delicious and super unique and I would go back for those. The sushi was sadly disappointing. $52 for 7 pieces and although they weren't bad, outside of the chuutoro and the hamachi, the other pieces were mediocre. I also echo another reviewer in saying that some of the pieces were way over wasabied. I would definitely go back to try more of their non-sushi dishes.

Conveniently located in downtown San Carlos. The decor is really beautiful on the inside. The food is very hit or miss for me. The "tacos" would have been a lot better with about 1/4 the amount of salsa on top. The grilled scallops were so overcooked. The risotto is really a standout. It is so savory and delicious. I would be back for that but not the rest.

First time be here. I assumed it's a Japanese Fusion restaurant. However, the Omakase Nigiri is surprisingly good. Service is OK, just sometime we need to wait awhile. Too much choices, wish I have more room to try.

Decent sushi with some shockingly good sleeper hits like the robata grill corn with miso butter (seriously the best corn I've had anywhere in the world). Omakase was quite good. Tasty roll. Nice selection of sakes. The sushi chef really made the place though; get a seat at the bar so you can watch him at work and enjoy a conversation.

Upscale looking modern Japanese restaurant with both traditional and fusion dishes. Upon entering Seiya, the restaurant decor gives off a high end Japanese restaurant. The food was delicious and it was nice to have experienced fusion Japanese tapas dishes. Location was right in the middle of Belmont, so street parking is difficult during peak times.
